Blackledge comes to LSU with experience from East Ascension, Denham Springs, Dutchtown, and Albany High Schools. This is Blackledge’s second time garnering work experience with LSU already serving a one year stint as a tutor for the Academic Center of Student Athletes.
As an English teacher for East Ascension and Denham Springs High Schools, Blackledge prepared lesson plans and managed her student’s behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. She also enhanced her student’s development by communicating effectively with parents throughout the year to discuss student progress and behavior.
While a career coach at Dutchtown and Albany High Schools, Blackledge performed the duties of a school counselor, such as scheduling, test administration, needs assessments, and classroom and faculty presentations.
While a tutor at ACSA, Blackledge worked as a strategy tutor to help college athletes adjust to life as a college student and worked as a content tutor to help student-athletes better comprehend classroom information. She also possesses valuable counseling experience, serving as a teacher, counselor, and tutor for eight years.
Blackledge received a master's degree in School Counseling and a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in English at LSU.
