How the Program Works
This program is broken down into steps for every year. We begin working with students in their freshman year when they receive a "Career Game Plan," at the Major Decisions Symposium all the way through until the day they graduate and head off to their chosen career.
Career Preparation
We work with students on an individual basis to help with writing resumes and cover letters, interview skills, job searches and mock interviews. In addition, we have built relationships with many local and regional companies and are often able to assist seniors with job placement. The following timelines show appropriate steps needed to take in order to stay on track for graduation and beyond:
The "Job Project"
Juniors and Seniors should also partcipate in the "Job Project." This project encourages the athletes to complete steps prior to attending the Career Symposium. All upper-class students should have the following:
- A completed resume
- A completed general cover letter
- Participated in a mock interview
- Registered with Tiger Trak (LSU Career Services job search)
Career Symposium
The Career Symposium is an annual event for all juniors and seniors held in the spring. This Symposium includes presentations by leading business professionals about "Steps to a Successful Career Search," "Dress for Success," "Business Etiquette" and a panel discussion about what business leaders look for in prospective employees. If you are interested in participating with the career symposium, please e-mail Jade Jenkins at jjenk11 [@] lsu.edu with your name, company, industry and contact information.
