Past Events
Student-Athletes participate in several events throughout the year. Several members from each team are involved in
participating community projects. Also, our students gain career-building advice by attending seminars that are
organized by the CHAMPS/Life Skills program.

The men's basketball team visited kids in the hospital during the Christmas break. They went room to room and sang Christmas carols and handed out posters and basketballs to cheer up the kids.

Christmas with the Tigers is an annual CHAMPS/Life Skills event where each sports team adopts an underprivileged child for the holidays and raises money to purchase gifts for each of the children. This year there were 22 kids adopted from the Catholic Charities group here in Baton Rouge. On Monday, December 1st the families and children made a trip to LSU where each team got to meet their child and call them onto the stage to accept one present.

All sports teams adopted an underprivileged child for Christmas through the Baton Rouge Catholic Charities Group. Each team was responsible for reaising money and providing their child with presents at the event. All 22 adopted children came on stage one at a time and unwrapped one present in front of the crowd and took home a bag to open on Christmas Day. The cheerleaders, tiger girls, the academic center for student-athletes, and the athletic administration also adopted a child.

Baseball player Micah Gibbs and track and field pole vaulter Lauren Saucier participated in the I'm a Good Kid Too! Youth Festival at a local YMCA. They spoke to 150 kids about staying drug free and working hard to achieve goals. The participants also walked around and talked to Lauren and Micah one-on-one and received LSU posters at the event.
