Welcome to CHAMPS/Life Skills!

The CHAMPS/Life Skills Program is designed to help student-athletes realize higher academic achievement, increased likelihood of graduation and enter a chosen profession with a higher level of vision, knowledge, motivation, self-responsibility and greater overall success.

"The mission of the Life Skills Program is to provide a systematic personal development program designed to reach each student-athlete based on his or her individual needs. The focus of the program is on the individual as a whole person academically, athletically and emotionally and on the changing needs of that individual during college and in the years after graduation."

-The NCAA Foundation

The Shaquille O'Neal Career Center

In the Spring of 2003, the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program honored one of LSU's most memorable graduates, Shaquille O'Neal, by naming the program after him.

The Shaquille O'Neal Career Center is located in the CHAMPS office in the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes. It includes five computers for student-athlete use for job searching, resume, writing, cover letter writing, graduate school searching, interview programs and more. We help individual students with resume and cover letter writing, as well as holding mock interviews to help prepare them for real life situations.

There is also a conference table for interviews for those companies who are welcome to interview student-athletes on site. If you are an employer who is interested in either interviewing student-athletes, would like to send a job-posting, or would like further information, please contact us.
