Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC)

The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) serves as the governing body for the LSU student-athletes. The Advisory Council is comprised of representatives from all sport teams and meets every third week during the semester. The role of an Advisory Council member is to represent his or her team in terms of communicating information to the administrative staff and coaches as well as assisting with planning of events and communicating those events to their teammates.

About SAAC

The Advisory Council sponsors many community service events including the Halloween BOOzar and the Christmas Toy Drive. SAAC members perform much of the work in relation to planning and coordinating participation in these events. Other projects in which student-athletes are involved include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Speaking in schools
  • Reading to children
  • Visiting hospitals
  • Visiting nursing homes

Other Commitments

SAAC members also serve as liaison between student-athletes with athletic and academic support staff playing an essential role in creating regulations and keeping their teammates informed any changes with respect to the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student Athletes.

Becoming a Member

Advisory Council members are chosen by each sport team and serve on an annual basis. The Advisory Council members are a very important voice for all LSU Student-Athletes. President and Vice President are chosen by election by the members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
