Mission Statement
The mission of the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student Athletes is to provide the support necessary to assist student-athletes in reaching their full potential academically, personally, athletically, and professionally during their time at the Louisiana State University. The academic support program is fully integrated with the University. The program is designed to assist student-athletes with the transition to a university setting and continues throughout their collegiate career, until the day he or she receives a diploma, finds a job, and/or enters graduate school.
Purpose
The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes was built to provide a first class facility for meeting student-athlete's needs. The building houses an auditorium, meeting rooms, classrooms, resource library, computer labs, study halls, individual tutoring rooms, private computer rooms, CHAMPS/Life Skills office, Career Center, communications Studio, Directed Studies Center, Hall of Champions, and Academic Hall of Fame. These facilities provide ample space for the presentation of informational seminars, supplemental instruction, academic tutoring, individual and group studying, academic, career, and personal counseling, interviewing and public relations training and other initiatives designed to help student-athletes meet their educational and life goals. The overall intent of the center is to increase student-athletes' potential for academic, personal and career success. LSU's commitment to the center also demonstrates the university's expectation that student-athletes will excel academically and shows confidence in the future of its intercollegiate athletics program.
