The objective of the Learning Specialist Program is to teach students with learning concerns to overcome educational difficulties by building the essential academic skills necessary to foster independent learning. Learning Specialists work with students in one-on-one sessions, utilizing comprehensive assessment to design, implement, and manage individualized academic support plans for students each semester. Plans focus on implementing research-based strategy instruction for targeted skill areas, assessing tutor and mentor support needs, and coordinating additional educational resources to foster academic achievement. Learning Specialists also conduct learning strategy consultations with students who are experiencing educational difficulties in a specific area or class. Each sport is assigned a Learning Specialist as a primary resource for their educational needs.
