SAMS

In order to monitor the progress of our students, the Academic Center uses a web-based software system called Student-Athlete Monitoring System (SAMS) developed and maintained by Enki Systems, Inc.

Scheduling Appointments

Schedule Appointments

With SAMS, the task of finding the right time to schedule an appoint for both the student-athlete and a tutor makes the job for the Tutorial Coordinator easier since SAMS contains not only the class schedule of student-athletes but their practice schedules as well. The student-athlete's schedule can simply be paired with the work schedule of a tutor to find available times to meet. By using this method, SAMS is able to avoid conflicts that could potentially occur between the demanding schedule of student-athletes and tutors.

Monitor Sessions

Sessions

Counselors can easily track the progress of student-athletes by reveiwing the sessions that a student-athlete participated in by reading reports that are filled out by tutors and mentors. At the end of each session, the tutor and mentor must fill out a session evaluation to allow counselors to analyze what the objectives of the session were, what was accomplished in the session, and what the goals for the next session are. This has become an essential tool for counselors, so they may readily be able to report how their students are doing to coaches and quickly make changes if the student-athlete appears to need better preparation for a class.

Progress Reports

Sessions

In the past year, professors and instructors may now fill out evaluations of how student-athletes are performing in their classes via SAMS. Every quarter of a semester, counselors organize a progress report for every student-athlete to know exactly where they stand in each class. SAMS has again simplified the job of counselors by allowing instructors to report a student-athlete's progress in one central location.

Supervised Study

Sessions

Freshman student-athletes are required to attend a certain amount of study hall. SAMS is able to keep track of the hours a student-athlete has spent in supervised study, thus allowing counselors to know if a student-athlete met their required minimum number of study hall hours in a week.
